At DMK Drilling Fluids Ltd., a large amount of the annual budget is spent upon Research and Development of new products, mud systems, and an improved understanding of drilling related problems.

Rheological Analysis: Our field technicians are able to supply hydraulic analysis, slip velocities and nozzle optimization at the well site. In conjunction with hydraulic analysis and well bore stability, DMK has 6 Brookfield DVII Rheometers in the field. This provides the latest results in “Low Shear Rate Range Viscosity” possible on location.

Inhibitive Mud Systems: DMK has the most complete range of fluid systems of any drilling fluids company. From inhibitive water based fluids, to invert emulsion systems. DMK developed the first Potassium Formate system used in Canada. With over one hundred wells done to date, the system had proven to be not only the most inhibitive water-based fluid, but also one of the cleanest and most protective fluids for production zones.

Training: At our training facility in Calgary, field personnel are updated on new products and new technology on an annual basis, to ensure a strong field representative team. Schools are also provided for customers throughout the year by request.

Programming: An essential part of the Technical department is to recommend the appropriate drilling fluids system to our customers. Area Analyses are done based upon “Touch Tone Data”, Drilling Records, and prior experience in an area. All programs are double checked to ensure accuracy before being delivered.

Supervision: The technical staff at DMK are on call 24 hours. Daily supervision of drilling operation technical performance is standard operating procedure, however, an emphasis on communication with operator representatives at the field level is a priority.
